Pampas in Sage — Samsung Frame TV art, 3840 × 2160
How large can I print it?

The file is around 9,000 px on the long edge. That prints crisply to about 75 cm on the long edge at gallery quality, and to 130–170 cm at the distance you look at a picture over furniture. Sizes, paper and framing, in detail →

Which paper or surface?

Gold on dark grounds wants a matte or satin fine-art paper (200–310 gsm), or aluminium for humid rooms; glossy photo paper turns the black into a mirror. The pale works also take satin and baryta papers.

Which licence do I need?

Personal (€9.99) covers your own home and gifts. Any business or space open to the public — a spa, clinic, hotel, office, restaurant — needs the commercial licence (€99.99, one venue, no renewal). The venue guide →

About this work

The bouquet opens upward like a fan, with the cream and beige pampas plumes forming the soft, wide crown of the arrangement. Underneath, the round grey vase sits low and solid, a calm counterweight to all that airy texture, and the warm wooden table adds a strip of brown that grounds the scene. Between the plumes the bunny tails make little pale dots, the dried palm spears add sharp, pointed shapes, and the silvery eucalyptus brings a cooler green. Painterly brushwork keeps the edges loose, so the plumes look truly feathery. A few strands touched with gold add small, warm accents to an otherwise muted palette. From across a room it reads as a gentle still life; closer, the brushstrokes become part of the pleasure.

Pampas grass, Cortaderia selloana, is native to southern South America, where it grows in the pampas grasslands of Argentina and Uruguay and in parts of Brazil and Chile. Its genus name comes from the Argentine Spanish cortadera, meaning cutter, after the leaf edges, which are sharp enough to slice skin. Plants are mostly either female or hermaphrodite, and the fuller, silkier plumes come from the female ones. The little fluffy heads in this bouquet belong to another grass, Lagurus ovatus, known as hare's tail or bunny tail; its genus name joins the Greek words for hare and tail.

Sage, greige, mushroom and linen walls are made for it, and it softens a stark white room too. Light oak, rattan-coloured or natural wood frames suit the boho feel, while a slim gold frame picks up the gilded strands. Warm afternoon light suits the creamy tones, so a west-facing wall is ideal. It pairs well with Sage Arches and Golden Sun for an easy boho wall, or with The Grey Heron, which shares its straw and cream tones. Printed from the 7168 × 10752 px file, it stays sharp to about 60 × 90 cm, an easy size above a sofa. A Frame TV version with a gallery mat is provided alongside.
