Golden ratio art: the 1.618 proportion, drawn rather than hidden.

The golden ratio is a single number, 1.618, and a single property: a rectangle in that proportion can have a square cut from one end and leave behind a smaller rectangle of exactly the same shape. Draw a quarter-circle through each of those squares and you have the golden spiral. Every work on this page begins from that construction.
