The Little Foal

Horse Art Print in Gold

Heads lowered in a tender curve, two grey-white horses gather over a small white foal: the one at left touches the little one's head, while the second leans down towards its companion.

Soft and calm, it is a natural choice for a nursery, a child's room or a bedroom, and it rests gently above a cot, a bed or a chest of drawers against pale walls.

The Little Foal — Samsung Frame TV art, 3840 × 2160
How large can I print it?

The file is around 9,000 px on the long edge. That prints crisply to about 75 cm on the long edge at gallery quality, and to 130–170 cm at the distance you look at a picture over furniture. Sizes, paper and framing, in detail →

Which paper or surface?

Gold on dark grounds wants a matte or satin fine-art paper (200–310 gsm), or aluminium for humid rooms; glossy photo paper turns the black into a mirror. The pale works also take satin and baryta papers.

Which licence do I need?

Personal (€9.99) covers your own home and gifts. Any business or space open to the public — a spa, clinic, hotel, office, restaurant — needs the commercial licence (€99.99, one venue, no renewal). The venue guide →

About this work

Three heads make one gentle line. The horse at the left lowers its head until it meets the foal's, the second adult at the right bends down towards the first, and together their necks form an arch that shelters the small figure standing in the lower centre. That arch is what the eye follows, from one head to the next and down to the foal, which becomes the quiet focus of the whole picture. Colour stays hushed throughout: grey-white coats, a pale grey-blue mist behind, and only faint flecks of gold drifting through the background like dust in morning light. The brushwork is soft and painterly, with edges that melt into the haze rather than stopping sharply. Seen up close, the gold flecks catch the light in small points; from across the room the scene reads as one tender, luminous group.

A foal is ready for the world remarkably fast. Most foals stand within about an hour of birth, take their first drink of milk soon after and can walk and even trot beside the adults within hours. Contact matters from the very start. Horses greet and reassure one another by touching noses and muzzles and breathing in each other's scent, and the adults of a group often take a close interest in a newcomer. In the first weeks a foal rarely strays far, and it spends much of the day asleep, often lying flat out, between short bursts of play. Here the painting simply gathers three horses close together, with the youngest at the centre of attention.

Next to Wild Horses at Sunset it shows the calmer side of horse life, while The Golden Crescent, with its moon over cream clouds, makes a dreamy companion in a child's room. Pale grey, powder blue, soft sage or warm white walls keep the misty mood, and natural linen or light oak furniture suits it well. Choose a white or light oak frame with a generous off-white mat; dark frames would feel heavy around such soft tones. Diffused daylight is ideal. Printed from the 7168 × 10752 px file, it stays sharp to about 60 × 90 cm, though a smaller print often feels right above a cot. Also included is a Frame TV version with a gallery mat.
