The Kintsugi Muse — Samsung Frame TV art, 3840 × 2160
How large can I print it?

The file is around 9,000 px on the long edge. That prints crisply to about 75 cm on the long edge at gallery quality, and to 130–170 cm at the distance you look at a picture over furniture. Sizes, paper and framing, in detail →

Which paper or surface?

Gold on dark grounds wants a matte or satin fine-art paper (200–310 gsm), or aluminium for humid rooms; glossy photo paper turns the black into a mirror. The pale works also take satin and baryta papers.

Which licence do I need?

Personal (€9.99) covers your own home and gifts. Any business or space open to the public — a spa, clinic, hotel, office, restaurant — needs the commercial licence (€99.99, one venue, no renewal). The venue guide →

About this work

Eyes closed, a porcelain face rests in profile against deep black. Fine cracks run across it, and each one has been mended with raised gold. From these golden seams grow small white blossoms and gold leaves, as if the repair itself had come alive. Nothing else competes for attention. The feeling is elegant and strong, and very still.

The image draws on kintsugi, the Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with lacquer and gold. A repaired bowl is not thrown away or disguised; its cracks become part of its beauty and its story. Here the idea moves from a bowl to a face. Porcelain, so often a symbol of fragility, is shown as something that can break and still hold together. The blossoms add a second thought: growth can begin exactly where the damage was.

Hang it in a bedroom, a dressing room, a beauty studio or a hallway. Black, deep green or warm grey walls bring out the white and gold, and brass frames suit it. Within the set Kintsugi in Gold it pairs naturally with The Kintsugi Moon, with Blossoming Gold as a third. The file prints sharply to roughly 76 cm on the long edge at 300 dpi.
