How large can I print it?

The print file is 7,680 × 4,320 px. That prints crisply to about 65 × 37 cm at gallery quality, and to about 130 × 73 cm at the distance you look at a picture over a sofa. Sizes, paper and framing, in detail →

Which paper or surface?

Gold on dark grounds wants a matte or satin fine-art paper (200–310 gsm), or aluminium for humid rooms; glossy photo paper turns the black into a mirror. The pale works also take satin and baryta papers.

Which licence do I need?

Personal (€9.99) covers your own home and gifts. Any business or space open to the public — a spa, clinic, hotel, office, restaurant — needs the commercial licence (€99.99, one venue, no renewal). The venue guide →

About this work

Lemon Branches in Gold follows a single long lemon branch as it stretches across the whole width of the picture. Six ripe lemons hang among white blossoms and glossy green leaves, painted in soft watercolour over the fine line of an engraving. The warm cream background leaves plenty of air around the fruit.

Antique botanical plates of the 18th and 19th centuries often showed a plant's flowers and fruit on the same sheet, so that one image could tell its whole story. The lemon suits that tradition perfectly, because the tree can carry blossom and ripe fruit at the same time. Here the familiar plate layout is stretched into a wide horizontal composition, as if the branch had grown beyond the edges of the page.

The 7680 × 4320 px print file, about 65 cm wide at 300 dpi, makes cheerful kitchen wall art above a sideboard, bench or breakfast table on white, cream or pale blue walls. The separate 4K TV pack includes 3840 × 2160 for the Samsung Frame or any 4K art-mode TV, plus 2560 × 1440 and 1920 × 1080. For a dining corner, add The Lemon Branch in portrait beside it.
