The Blue Nautilus Blueprint — 4K TV art, 3840 × 2160
How large can I print it?

The print file is 7,680 × 4,320 px. That prints crisply to about 65 × 37 cm at gallery quality, and to about 130 × 73 cm at the distance you look at a picture over a sofa. Sizes, paper and framing, in detail →

Which paper or surface?

Gold on dark grounds wants a matte or satin fine-art paper (200–310 gsm), or aluminium for humid rooms; glossy photo paper turns the black into a mirror. The pale works also take satin and baryta papers.

Which licence do I need?

Personal (€9.99) covers your own home and gifts. Any business or space open to the public — a spa, clinic, hotel, office, restaurant — needs the commercial licence (€99.99, one venue, no renewal). The venue guide →

About this work

The Blue Nautilus Blueprint shows a large nautilus worked in deep blue and gold mosaic, its spiral sharp and detailed. Beside it, sweeping golden curls run across cream graph paper, so the whole picture looks like an engineer's study of the golden spiral.

A golden spiral is a logarithmic spiral that grows by the golden ratio, about 1.618, with every quarter turn. The nautilus also grows along a logarithmic spiral: each new chamber is larger than the last, yet the shape stays the same. The two are often treated as one, but measured shells rarely match the golden ratio exactly, and most expand more slowly. That gap between ideal geometry and living form is what this picture plays with, setting the shell beside the drawing that tries to explain it.

As gold and blue wall art it fits a study, home office, living room or hallway, and looks sharp against navy, white, stone or warm grey walls. The horizontal format sits well above a desk, sofa or sideboard, and on a 4K TV or Samsung Frame the blue mosaic and gold lines stay crisp. Pair it with The Architect's Nautilus for a set of two nautilus studies.
