About this work

The trunk of this tree of life is copper-gold and curls into a spiral as it rises. Its branches are covered in red, amber and gold leaves, and more leaves are falling through the air, all set against a deep burgundy background that makes the warm colours glow like embers.

Across cultures, from Norse Yggdrasil to the Celtic crann bethadh, the tree of life has stood for continuity: the tree endures while its leaves come and go. An autumn tree shows that cycle at its richest moment, when the leaves turn and fall but trunk and roots remain. This picture is an original design built around that seasonal image.

Hang it above a sofa, a fireplace or a sideboard, where it brings warmth to a living room or a dining room. Cream, ochre, olive, terracotta and deep red walls all suit the burgundy and gold.
